Family outdoor photography sessions are a great way to capture your family’s dynamic and personality. We love documenting and capturing updated portraits of your growing family. Family portrait sessions include a combination of smiling and looking at the camera pictures and pictures of your family interacting together. Be prepared for lots of tickles, running, playing, twirling, and fun.

What should we wear?

Here are some great tips for what to wear for your family portrait session.

-coordinating colors, but not matching. Pick 2 main colors and one accent color. I try to avoid a lot of patterns. If you choose a pattern, have one person in the pattern and build the rest of your wardrobe around it.

-Take a look at your home décor. Do you like bright colors? Neutrals? Since you will be hanging these photos in your home, choose colors that will match with the color scheme of your home.

-Don’t forget accessories. Accessories not only add to your outfit but can be fun to use in photos. Hats, scarves, layers, and jewelry can add a fun and funky flare.

-Choose the outfit first for the person who is hardest to dress. I always find the most adorable clothes for kids, but dressing myself is another story. I pick my outfit first, then build everyone else’s around it.

-Say no to characters. Your little one may love Paw Patrol, but avoid any characters and will be distracting.

-Think classic. These photos will be hung on your walls and treasured for years to come. By choosing simple, classic clothes, you will help give your images a timeless feel.

Where will our outdoor photography session take place?

Whether it’s an urban area or the park. I’m always up for shooting at a place that will be the perfect fit for your family. We have some great suggestions based on the look and feel families are wanting to achieve. Indoor venues are always an option as well. There may be a separate fee associated with the rental.

How long will an outdoor session last?

Outdoor photography sessions typically last 45 min to an hour. This allows time for shy kiddos to explore and open up, and for us to get a variety of poses of you and your family interacting.

What should I bring?

A dry snack, some water, and a favorite toy. Photography sessions are scheduled around meals and nap time. This maximizes our time and creates a positive experience.
