Why I Capture Motherhood: A Legacy of Memories

My passion for photography is rooted in my own family history. My mother was born in Korea during the 1950s, a time when photography was a luxury she didn’t have access to. Today, she has only a handful of images from her childhood. Her greatest heartbreak is that she doesn’t have a single photograph of her own mother to look back on.

Because of her experience, I grew up understanding that a photograph is more than just an image—it’s a legacy. My mother documented my entire childhood on VHS tapes and film, from piano recitals to everyday moments at home. Now, my favorite thing to do is sit with my own children and relive those memories together.
